I’ll recapture power for NPP in 2028 election if elected flagbearer-Bawumia ‘vows’

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has reaffirmed his determination to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) back to power in the 2028 general elections.

Dr Bawumia, who served as Ghana’s Vice President from January 2017 to January 2025, stated that his focus is on securing a victory for the NPP to steer Ghana’s development.

“I underscored my resolve to reclaim power for the NPP in the 2028 election and steer Ghana towards development,” he wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday, September 24, after a two-day engagement in the Eastern Region.

His interactions included meetings with past and present constituency officers as well as former senior NPP government officials.

The 15 NPP MPs include:

8. ⁠Kingsley Agyemang (Abuakwa South)
9. ⁠Nana Ampaw Addo-Frempong (Abuakwa North)
10. ⁠Kwame Appiah Kodua (Fanteakwa North)
11. ⁠Duke Ofori-Atta (Fanteakwa South)
12. ⁠Frank Asiedu Bekoe (Suhum)
13. ⁠Charles Asuako Owiredu (Abirem)
14. ⁠Kingsley Ahenkora Marfo (Achiase)
15. Alex Agyare (Kade)

Dr. Bawumia is contesting the NPP flagbearership against former General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Abetifi MP Bryan Acheampong, and former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
