Police engage robbers in shootout at Awutu Bereku

Three Armed Robbers clash with Police officers at Awutu Bereku in a gun battle after Police officers had information that this criminals have stolen a Kia Morning Taxi From the driver at Madina Abokobi and heading towards Winneba.

Source says, this criminals injured the Taxi driver with the Registration number GR 6013-21 before snatching the car at Abokobi.

Some residents at Awutu Bereku says, five Police Officers Namely Cpl Richard Kwofie,
Cpl Frank Nkansah, let’s Const Daniel Yomaa,
Const Lucky Twum Asare and Constable Fredrick Bediako mounted a Barrier at Awutu Bereku Township in the Kasoa – Winneba Highway after having information that, this criminals are heading towards Winneba direction.

In an interview with Mireku nyampong, eyewitnesses says, when this officers stopped the car for interrogations ,the robbers open fire on the police officers and nearly killed one of the officers.

This five officers took a Taxi and a motor, gave them a chase which resulted into a Gun Battle between the Robbers and the police officers.

The suspects parked the car after reaching a section of the road, run into a nearby bush while blood was seen in the car after Police officers return the fire.

This Police officers are calling on Hospital workers to report any person with Gun wounds to a nearby Police station.

Some eyewitnesses Commended the officers for firing professionally else innocent persons could have been die by now because there were a lot of civilians around where the police mounted the barrier.

Meanwhile Brother of the car owner Lawrence Danso also explain how this criminals robbed the car and also commended the Police for hard work…
